Report from Bishampton Neighbourhood Watch

The twenty co-ordinators in the village have had a relatively busy year with information being received from the Police about a number of incidents in neighbouring parishes. Unfortunately we, in this parish, have had a number of incidents to concern ourselves with. Back at the end of April/beginning of May 2002 we had a spate of vehicle thefts in Broad Lane and Main Street, which were the result of burglaries where the car keys were stolen. Then we have had a relatively quiet period apart from a small number of incidents, some involving anti-social behaviour. More recently we have had another burglary in Broad Lane.

Once again I urge all parishioners to be vigilant and report incidents to the Police quickly. They should use 999 if the incident is happening or 08457-444888 if it is later or information is of a non-urgent nature. It is important that ALL incidents are reported and recorded.

A number of parishioners in the village have added security measures to their homes during the year. Advice on relevant systems can be obtained from P.C. Charlie Cavendish.

I remind parishioners that P.C. Charlie Cavendish can be contacted by calling 08457-444888 ext. 3631, or by leaving a message in the Police box in the village shop.
