Report from The Silver Circle Seniors Club 2007-2008
It seems as we are getting
older and slower, time as such gathers speed and the time for annual reports
is here again.
However, despite a not exactly promising start, having lost Mrs Mills (our spokesperson)
as well as Mrs Harrison, we managed to compile a year of events to satisfy most
members.
During the summer, we enjoyed visits to Worcester Cathedral, where we admired
a tapestry exhibition. Our visit to the Hartlebury Museum has been regarded
as a highlight of the year. Not quite as successful was out visit to the Bibury
Trout Farm – mainly as they were just awakening from their winter sleep
and not yet really prepared for visitors.
The annual Christmas lunch at the Angel in Pershore brought us to the end of
outdoor activities. We then were entertained by speakers on such topics as gardening,
slides of holidays enjoyed by members of the community on such places as Africa
or the Far East.
Two not-so-young gentlemen entertained us with some witty monologues and ditties
accompanied by a guitar. We also enjoyed lunch at The Anchor in Fladbury.
Regrettably, we were able to persuade Mrs Merchant to be the contact in club
affairs and she will delegate matters as they arise as well as keep her eye
on our finances. We are very optimistic that the Silver Circle will make it
through to 2009 and trust that we may welcome some new members to our meetings
at Throckmorton village hall on the second Tuesday of each month at 2.30pm.
