Dib dib job done - well almost
The future of the Throckmorton Parish
Room could soon been settled. If the Charity Commissioners agree, the title
deeds of this much loved hut will be transferred to the Throckmorton Charity.
In the 1970s the village room was given to the 7th Pershore Scout Group who at the time made great use of the hut. When the Scouts no longer needed the room they found they were unable to return the title to the village or the parish because of strict laws covering charities and their assets. After what seems like years of negotiations largely carried out by Charles Tucker the Scouts have written to the Charity Commissioners supporting a move to transfer the Parish Room to the Throckmorton Charity. The Commissioners are expected to give their blessing soon. The next step will be the rebuilding or complete refurbishment of the hut.
Swings and Roundabouts
More good news for Throckmorton villagers
they have £2,000 to spend on a playground. It sounds a lot but modern swings
and roundabouts with all their safety features are expensive.
Dog Diversion
Dog walkers in Bishampton have got hot
under the collar after a favourite circular walk to the West of the village
has been closed. For years walkers have cut through some land to join up
a couple of footpaths but now this shortcut has been closed by the tenants
on the land. There are other footpaths in the area but many have been ploughed.
The Parish Council is consulting with the landowners while pressing for rights
of way in the area to be enforced.
