BISHAMPTON AND THROCKMORTON PARISH COUNCIL

PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: April 2004

Building work to create of a new and vastly improved Parish Room at Throckmorton could begin by the end of the year. The key question is whether to buy or lease the building from the Scouts who own the property (they would like to give it to the community but very strict Charity Laws prevent such a transfer.) The Parish Council is taking legal advice on the best course – a long lease or freehold purchase.

In the meantime, the Parish Room is in a sorry state. The Council is to spend some money to improve health and safety in the building. But the sooner it is knocked down and replaced the better.

Don’t be left in the dark. See what is going on in Bishampton and Throckmorton online at www.netword.com/*btpc. You can peruse the Parish Council’s minutes and audit its £23,000 budget.

A letter has been sent to BT, asking for the telephone box in Bishampton to be painted in time for Open Gardens Day, June 13th.

Cooking with gas! The Parish Council is to donate a £739 cooker to the Bishampton Villages Hall.

In an effort to bring more democracy to the Parish Council, members of the public are welcome to attend an open discussion on any topic concerning the parish before committee meetings. The Parish Council meets next on Monday 5th April at 7.30 p.m
