BISHAMPTON AND THROCKMORTON PARISH COUNCIL

PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: FEBRUARY 2004

Plans to create a Science Park on Throckmorton airfield have been given the go ahead by Bishampton and Throckmorton.  That was one of the clearest results from the Parish Plan Consultation meetings held in the Villages Hall and Parish Room last month.  More than 75 individuals turned out to have their say - roughly one in ten households was represented. The vote to back Wychavon Council's scheme to earmark the site for a Science Park gained the overwhelming support and is now more likely to become a fixed part of Wychavon's Local Plan as a result.

Other issues such as where the road to the proposed Science Park should go or what other parts of the airfield should be used for to were less certain but there will be a full analysis of comments soon.

Now the race is on to see if the other members of the "Four Parishes", Hill and Moor, Wyre Piddle and Pinvin can get their consultations finished before Wychavon completes it Plan.  An Examination in Public of the Local Plan will begin in March with the Planning Inspector's verdict due in the Summer.

Meanwhile the rest of our own Parish Plan will be up for discussion in April with a finale report expected in the early autumn.
