BISHAMPTON AND THROCKMORTON PARISH COUNCIL

PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: MARCH 2004

The future of Throckmorton Airfield is a little more secure! All four local parish councils – Bishampton and Throckmorton, Hill and Moor, Wyre Piddle and Pinvin – have given their backing to Wychavon’s scheme to turn the site into a Science Park. The low density, hi-tec development would cover the area presently used by hangers and other buildings at the centre of the airfield. The rest of the land would be classified as “open countryside.” The public enquiry into Wychavon’s Local Plan begins the end of March.

Are you passionate about the parish, hooked on local history or wild about the indigenous wildlife? What makes this area special for you? Your inspiration and vision could bring local colour to the Parish Plan. If you can contribute, please contact Toni Gilligan (561528) or Rupert Segar (861078).

The Parish Plan is powering towards the finishing line. The next step will be another round of consultations when you can have your say on any aspect of the Plan. The results of your Hot Topics survey cover everything from housing and employment to footpaths and litterbins. There will be an open exhibition at Bishampton Villages Hall on 21st April and at The Throckmorton Parish Room on 28th April. If you want a say in the future of our communities, be there!

The Parish Council has received a number of complaints about drivers speeding along Long Lane and Throckmorton Road. We have written to the police and the highways authority at the County Council asking them to investigate.
