BISHAMPTON AND THROCKMORTON PARISH COUNCIL
PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: NOVEMBER 2004
Audit
The Council accounts passed internal
audit and many thanks to the Clerk for all her hard work in preparing them.
2005/6 Budget
In December the Council will
be meeting to prepare a budget for next year which will determine the level
of precept the Council will need to raise from Council tax. Would organisations
which normally apply for grants from the Parish Council please let the Clerk
have their bid, together with justification, before December 11 th.
Footpath & Bridleway work
Some work is to be carried out on footpaths in connection with bridge repairs
and signposting although Worcestershire County Council has significantly cut
the grant for this year. The fallen tree on Badger walk has now been removed
and work will take place shortly to prune the trees at the top of Babylon Lane.
Councillor Mandy Hall is to assist Councillor Edward Chadwick in keeping track of the work needed with a particular interest in bridleways.
Village Traffic
A notice will appear shortly asking drivers not to park their cars on the
corner of Babylon Lane and Main Street when visiting the shop. Whilst it is
clearly very tempting to park in this way when visiting the shop for a minute
or two, it is a hazard to other road users and pedestrians and is, of course,
illegal.
Cars parked on pavements can expect polite notices asking them not to do so.
There have been several instances of MHF lorries travelling through the village to the landfill site. Negotiations should now have alleviated the problem but please report any instances of these vehicles in Bishampton village centre to Councillor Malcolm Argyle
Throckmorton Parish Room
The Throckmorton Charity is progressing its project for replacing the old
building and solicitors are being engaged to deal with the purchase of the
existing building and land from the Scout Association.
