Junior Play Area
The council has agreed that replacement of the junior play area is now necessary and has formed a working committee made up of, Dave Baldwin, Malcolm Argyle, Beryl Lammas, Sam Osborne and Pip Gregory to make recommendations as to type and cost of replacement. As with the main area the plans will be displayed for all to comment upon and planning permission will be sought for the development. The likely cost will be in the region of £25,000 so grant funding will be sought by the council.
In the meantime the council, after considering the cost of repair to the existing equipment and the uncertainty as to how much rot has damaged the main supports, has decided to remove the equipment as soon as possible.
A committee has been formed and will advise the council on the specification for suitable replacements.

Queens Golden Jubilee Walk
The Parish Council is concerned that a number of the posts on this work on the Silver Jubilee and Badger walks have been uprooted – seemingly as a deliberate act of vandalism. If anyone can throw further light on this matter the council would be grateful to hear from them.

Parking on Village Pavements
The Parish Council resolved a number of months ago to take action over vehicles that are parked on pavements in Bishampton, thereby obstructing their use by legitimate users. On the afternoon of Saturday 8th July the pavement on the north side of Main Street was totally obstructed by cars, some two abreast left by inconsiderate drivers. It was impossible for a single pedestrian to pass by without using the road and this is clearly an unacceptable situation particularly as it means that children have to use the road instead of the pavement. Could residents and their visitors please ensure that cars do not obstruct pedestrian access and are parked legally?

Wychavon Magazine
If you have not received the recent summer 2006 copy of the Wychavon Magazine could you please let the clerk know with your name and address with postcode.

Councillor Vacancy
Councillor Mrs Mandy Hall has resigned from the council having moved out of Bishampton to Flyford.
Currently notices are displayed inviting parishioners to call an election if they wish, although the council hopes not as the cost to the parishes of such an event would probably be in excess of £1000. If there is no request for an election then a notice will be displayed invite people to apply for co-option to the Parish Council. This will only be for a relatively short period as full elections will take place next May.

Councillor Expenses
You will see on the notice boards that the council has elected to adopt a policy for councillor expenses. To date none have been payable apart from a small chairman’s allowance. The council rejected the need for a basic councillor allowance or for any subsistence allowance but has approved a mileage allowance where councillors undertake travel on official council business.

Parish Plan
By now everyone in Bishampton & Throckmorton should have received a copy of the Parish Plan. Please let the clerk know if you have not received a copy.
