BISHAMPTON AND THROCKMORTON PARISH COUNCIL
PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: FEBRUARY 2006
Clerk to the Parish
Council
Mrs Anne Boocock, Clerk to
the Parish Council has resigned with effect from the end of February. The council
was sorry to loose her services and would like to thank her for her support over
the past two years. As I write this, an advertisement for a replacement clerk
has been placed on local notice boards and in the papers for closure on 20 th
February. However, there is no guarantee that we shall have a replacement by
then so if you are interested in a roughly 8 hour per week job with some evening
meetings and the post is still being advertised then please contact Eric Carter

Parish Plan
You
may be wondering why we have not actually published this yet. We do have
a final copy but we would like Wychavon to adopt it as part of their Local
Development Scheme. Currently the scheme does not include parish plans but
when it is re-adopted from March 2006 these will be included. Since we can
not have retrospective inclusion we need to present the scheme for adoption
post March 2006. A further complication to this is that we also need to conduct
a “Sustainability Appraisal” for
inclusion in the plan so there is now some more work to undertake. However,
inclusion in the Local Development Scheme does give the plan more weight
as a planning document and the delay will be worthwhile. In the meantime
the results of the surveys and consultation meetings are being made available
to Wychavon District Council to inform them of our collective views on the
airfield and ECON11 (science park)
proposals. As a reminder full results of the survey are on the web page.
Bishampton Villages Hall Amenity Area
This
is progressing well under the auspices of the steering group and local assistance
as has been reported by David Baldwin, Chairman BAT Villages Hall Management
Committee. You will notice some preparatory work taking place and the major
work probably commencing in March. To support the activity the Parish Council
has committed a further £4000 to the project so I am afraid you
will see something of a rise in the Bishampton & Throckmorton precept from
the Council Tax.
Flood Alleviation in Broad Lane
A
few years ago there was something of a flooding issue for a number of houses
in Broad Lane and the Parish Council has been pressing for work to be undertaken
which will alleviate the problem. Wychavon now have this on their schedule
but no dates have been given yet. However, the Parish Council is required
to make some contribution to the work based on a national formula and in
this case amounting to some £5600 which
can be spread over three years from when the work commences. Whilst this
is a large sum to find, the work will probably cost several tens of thousands
of pounds and the council has approved expenditure.
