BISHAMPTON AND THROCKMORTON PARISH COUNCIL
PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: APRIL 2006
Bishampton Annual Parish Meeting
Village Litter Cleans
The
Parish Council would like to thank all those who took part in the village
litter clean up over the bank holiday weekend which should have netted the
council in the region of £500. There are rather too many names to list
but overall rather fewer volunteers than we would have liked and which would
have made the job a bit easier for those who did take part. However, particular
thanks to the young folk in Bishampton who undertook the street clean as a
gesture for the new teen amenity area at the Villages Hall. There is clear
evidence that there is a significant amount of fly tipping taking place, particularly
in the Throckmorton area as anyone who witnessed the 40 bags of rubbish, computer
screens and gas bottles outside the Parish room will have been aware. If you
do notice any fly tipping please pass details including the time and registration
of the vehicle to the clerk. Also, to the Carling Black Label binge drinker
of Hill Furze Road who has deposited over 100 cans in the hedge over the year – we’re
watching!
Village Hall Amenity Areas
As
everyone is now aware the new teen amenity area is up and running albeit
needing a bit more grass seed here and there. However, there are problems
over the junior play area which failed the annual safety inspection on several
counts most of which are quite justifiable. The area is now considered unsafe
for use and will be removed as soon as is practicable whilst funding is sought
to replace the equipment.
Bishampton Annual Parish Meeting
This
was held on the 15 th May but was particularly poorly supported with only
three parishioners attending. There were many reports from councillors and
local organisations covering topics ranging from “will they bury
bird flu infected birds on the airfield” to “announcements over
the building of the link road from the Wyre by-pass”. The Parish Council
also explained why it currently holds £65,500 cash assets. You will find
some of the information on the web site.
Speeding Traffic
The
issue of speeding traffic in Bishampton has been raised and the Parish Council
will be discussing the problem with the police to see what action can be
taken. Please be aware of your speed in the village areas.
Parish Council Chairman
At
the annual meeting of the Parish Council on 16 th May Cllr Don Cheetham was
unanimously elected as chairman and Cllr Beryl Lammas was also unanimously
elected vice-chairman.
Vacancy for Clerk to the Parish Council
The
position of Clerk to the Parish Council remains vacant and the council wishes
to try and make an appointment before September. If anyone is interested
could they please, in the first instance, contact the Chairman of the Council
Cllr Don Cheetham on 01386 462310
Parish Plan
The
Bishampton & Throckmorton Parish Plan
was adopted by the Parish Council on 16 th May and has been sent for printing.
Those in the parishes should receive copies in the next couple of months.
