Affordable Housing
Wychavon District Council’s Housing Development Officer Frances Evans visited the parish council at its October meeting to ‘raise awareness of the need for affordable housing for people with a local connection to the parish’.

She outlined affordable housing scheme options, like shared equity properties, which could be considered if a need was identified in the area and she asked the council to assist with a parish survey to collect detailed figures. She stressed any such scheme could be directly linked to local need, giving local people first choice for the properties. The council will be thinking about whether to press ahead with the survey at its November meeting.

Local Policing
Local Policing Officer PC Pete Davey attended the meeting and said he is busy compiling a Beat Profile of key contacts in the area, so he can get in touch with people who may be able to help resolve local issues in the future. Anyone who wants to be included on the profile or would like to talk to him with other concerns can contact him on 08457 444888 Ext 3404 or email peter.davey@westmercia.pnn.police.uk.

Report from Liz Tucker
County Councillor Liz Tucker alerted the parish to the imminent publication of the planning document outlining the science park plans for Throckmorton Airfield. It will give people the chance to air their views on the development scheme and Cllr Tucker urged villagers to study it carefully.

She also revealed that the county council is currently trying to come up with ways in which to cut some £7m from its budget.

New Road Signs
And villagers tired of directing motorists to the village hall and the golf club will be glad to notice that long-awaited direction signs are now in place in the village centre.

The next parish council meeting is scheduled for November 6th 2006 at 7.30pm, beginning with an open forum session when people are welcome to raise issues for consideration by the council. Alternatively, contact parish clerk Carolyn Morris on 01386 554058 (fimor@aol.com).
