Councillor Vacancy
Following the resignation of Councillor Mandy Hall who has moved to a neighbouring village the council has a vacancy for another councillor. The post has been recorded and notices have been displayed inviting parishioners to call an election. Fortunately (from the point of view of council coffers, parishioners have not exercised this rights and the Council is now free to co-opt a new councillor for the period until the next election in May 2007.
If you would like to be considered for this position please let the Clerk no before 1st October giving your reasons for wishing to be considered. The position is interesting and a benefit to your local community. It involves meetings roughly once a month on the first Monday plus a little extra work depending on what activities are afoot.

Children’s Junior Play Area
Careful consideration of the dimensions required for the suggested new equipment has revealed that a little extra space will be required. Also the proximity of the high southern boundary hedge suggests that there would be a lot of problem with leaf fall, squashed berries etc. Hence the council has agreed to re-tender for the work and include the removal of the first layer of hedge to provide a more open and extended space.

Bishampton Stores
According to the results of the Parish Plan survey the most valued amenity is the Bishampton Stores with all returns from Bishampton and a very high percentage from Throckmorton claiming they used the stores at some time or the other. Steve, the store owner, is keen to explore ways in which the attractiveness of this amenity can be improved so if you have suggestions about what would make the stores better for you please let Steve know.
As part of the Council’s initiative towards supporting the shop and, potentially, a number of other aspects of village life the Council will be lending support to the Sustainable Communities Bill which, if passed, would place an initiative on central government support the amenities in villages such as ours in a number of ways.
