BISHAMPTON AND THROCKMORTON PARISH COUNCIL
PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: APRIL 2008
ECO TOWN
The parish council was glad to hear that the
proposals for an Eco Town on Throckmorton Airfield did not make it through the
first round of consideration by the Government. Thanks went to local planners,
Cllr Liz Tucker, MP Peter Luff and all those who wrote and made their views
known to the Government. The PC hopes to be included in talks with Wychavon
and owners of the airfield over its future and further plans for its use.
GRANTS
At its last meeting, the Parish Council agreed to donate its usual £1,000
to the village hall in Bishampton, to donate £200 to the Wychavon Citizens’
Advice Bureau, to donate £200 to the local Silver Circle group and to
donate £100 to the Wychavon branch of Mencap.
HELP FOR
HEROES
The council heard last month about the charity which provides help for injured
soldiers. Major Ian Baldry TD, from Fladbury, is the county co-ordinator. He
said: “Our local regiment, the 2nd Battalion Mercian regiment (The Worcestershire
and Sherwood Forresters), had 9 soldiers killed and 25 seriously injured during
their recent operational tour in Afghanistan. The intensity of the war fighting
can be reflected in the fact that no less than 10 Military Crosses were awarded
+ The Conspicuous Gallantry Cross.” Full details of this charity can be
found on www.helpforheroes.org.uk . Contact Mr Baldry on 01386 860028.
PLANNING
A planning application from Marshalls Transport for a new warehouse at its site
on the northern part of the airfield has been refused by Wychavon as planners
believe it would result in development into open countryside.
Next
Meeting
The next meeting of the council
is scheduled for Monday, May 12th, at Bishampton village hall, which will also
be the AGM of the parish council. Watch the notice boards for details of the
agenda. All Parish Council meetings begin with an open forum session for people
to raise issues/ideas for consideration by the council. Or contact parish clerk
