Comments
about the Landfill Site |
7 |
Hill and Moor site and airfield - return to nature - have nature reserve with paths for cyclists, horses, walkers etc. Maybe a sports centre. |
10 |
Skip in the area at least once a year for disposal of waste otherwise not able to be disposed of. |
15 |
Any land nor used as nature park e.g. land near Tip, returned to agricultural use. |
18 |
Expansion of the recycling scheme to include glass. How should people with no transport be able to deposit such things as glass for recycling. |
37 |
We are most impressed by the facilities offered at the tip & with the management's efforts to utilise landfill for the benefits of nature & wildlife. |
44 |
Less hours at weekend for the tip being open, hence limiting the noise |
46 |
Flies - if as we think the flies are coming from the fill site, surely the environmental health department can allot monies to help this situation. Somewhere out there must be a product to help with flies on a large scale area. |
47 |
The tip/F & M Burial Ground - great emphasis onto converting the area to a nature reserve. The tip should also have a much shorter life cycle than that currently in force. |
49 |
As a village resident I am one who is not sure of the planned life of the Throckmorton Tip. This has a real bearing on the future of the village. |
57 |
Tip:- Since the re-organisation at the tip, it now takes 40-60 minutes to get through at weekends, previously it was 10 minutes. |
75 |
The continued growth of the disposal site at Hill & Moor |
88 |
Tip could be extended other part of airfield site - where it has been finished off & covered with turf it looks rather good - a reflection of Bredon on other side of the vale. |
91 |
Tip - re-route tip road to approach from bypass - reducing traffic on Bishampton - Throckmorton c roads. Method of tipping needs to be reconsidered as it is it's a complete shambles. |
98 |
The tip - controlled management and better screening and better screening with eventual development into park land |
130 |
The Tip- monitoring of and future growth/restrictions |
133 |
Waste collection. We now have 3 plastic bags to cope with which is inconvenient. We are in favour of waste separation & recycling but there must be a better way. No glass collection provided |
150 |
The Tip - the future - will it need to expand or develop, pollution and environmental issues. |
171 |
The over expanding tip and the fear of the introduction of an incinerator. |
173 |
The Tip - Contractor should be obliged to clean it up |
203 |
Environmental To find out the source of the excessive amount of flies, which invade our home every year. |
208 |
The tip doesn't want to get any higher with rubbish, it will soon look like Bredon, it was a big Dip during the war, look at it now, also for a rubbish skip to be put nearer to the centre of the village not everyone has transport to take stuff where skip used to be put by Villages hall |
224 |
I am sure that if the charges at the tip were not so high there wouldn't be so much fly tipping. |
271 |
Ban anymore environmentally damaging facilities in the area and END the use of any such current facilities e.g. the tip and the battery chicken business. |
276 |
The Tip - Open new access road as soon as possible (already started) and close Long Lane & Throckmorton Road to heavy tip traffic |
277 |
Tip has become eyesore. |
298 |
Now that the tip has been nearly filled to capacity, will future plans for expansion/relocation involve the airfield? |
307 |
Litter - not only flytipping in the entrance to Shorthorn Wood and around the 'Shoot' entrance but generally along the lanes litter being in ditches, on verges and in hedges. |
314 |
Tip -Careful monitoring of future needs and movement. i.e. increase of tipping area. |

Comments
about the Roads |
9 |
Speeding Cars - a few still continue to speed from Bishampton direction into the 1st corner at Throckmorton. There are many more young children living in Throckmorton and they do not have the road awareness of the older children. |
12 |
a) Road surfaces within 2 Parishes are appalling - no maintenance to
speak of. |
13 |
Motorist not observing speed limit, entrance or leaving Broad Lane |
17 |
How about a safe cycle/riding route off the busy roads? |
20 |
Proper maintenance of existing roads around the villages. |
35 |
Road surfacing - particularly along Throckmorton Road and Long Lane across the airfield. The condition of the roads are apalling not helped by HGV to Marshalls & Birts. |
45 |
Link road form Wyre bypass through airfield providing suitable road for H.G.V.s - removing H.G.V.s from Throckmorton road & Long lane |
51 |
Roads - upkeep & traffic calming through Throckmorton (Roadside litter on route to tip is problem). |
56 |
Marshall's lorries are accelerating the deterioration of the roads. There's no chance more haulage firms will be given operating licences in the area? |
59 |
Great concern about the local roads being able to cope with the amount of H.G.V. an accident is waiting to happen!! |
63 |
Road system is in poor state of repair especially Throckmorton. Lorries should be able to access Tilesford/Throckmorton developments direct from the bypass. New light industry on Throckmorton needs this too. |
64 |
Campaign to improve local road surfaces to make them safe, to include resurfacing, white lining and improving signing. |
68 |
Repair Long Lane, also grit Long Lane in Winter |
71 |
Bishampton Village -Introduce some self activating speed warning devices to deter local racing drivers. |
79 |
Council tax - This has virtually doubled in the past 10 yrs. we've been here. Cannot see that we get value for money. The roads are deteriorating rapidly; they are hardly ever gritted in the winter. |
82 |
Road repairs |
87 |
Traffic calming measures in villages |
90
|
The dreadful condition of the roads in the villages needs to be attended to urgently, as does the increasing problem caused to the public by vehicles parked on the pavement. |
93 |
We would like to see, Hill Furze road gritted frequently in the winter months |
100
|
Speeding cars from the vale golf club presents a real problem for bike riders, horses and pedestrians |
103
|
Clean up all the hay overspill now in the gutters and drains! Mr Burt?? Who pays for blocked drains etc.? |
112 |
More attention to the state of the roads in the area. |
113 |
The roads are dreadful. Why is it this area gets neglected. |
121 |
Gritting roads (ice conditions) and road maintenance |
125
|
Airfield We feel that Long Lane running past the Airfield would benefit from Road Surface improvements & including a public footpath, from Tilesford to Throckmorton. |
126 |
Transport Concerned about the speed of traffic on Long Lane, Throckmorton. |
134 |
Road improvements |
139 |
Long Lane - Speed of traffic & number of big lorries make it feel unsafe to walk or cycle. Speed/weight limit? |
146 |
High priority traffic calming in the village, also something to slow people down as they are coming round the bends at the Flyford end. That end of the village, entry and exit is dangerous. |
152
|
Restriction of HGVs through village and nearby lanes. |
154 |
Speed limits - maybe, reduced speed limits (say 40 mph) would extend beyond the village to include the bad bends on 3 exits/entrances to Bishampton |
158 |
Pavements to the west of Main Street between Moat Farm Lane and Broad Lane need attention - uneven and tricky slopes in several places. |
161 |
Roads State of roads is appalling. Either they need to be brought up to a higher standard, or all lorries, tractors etc. should be banned from the villages. |
164 |
Road de-icing in winter months |
170
|
I would like to see Throckmorton remain rural with access for all airfield and possibly Bishampton traffic given from the bypass. I also think Bishampton should receive an adequate bus service. |
179 |
Hill Furze Rd. - in very bad condition |
191 |
Traffic Calmimg - So much traffic passes through Bishampton and I would like to see the chicagne system of rights of way introduced. No need for lights and no annoying noise. |
199 |
Introduce some self activating speed warning devices to deter local racing drivers. (Bishampton village). |
201 |
By the provision of alternative access, prohibit M.H.F. skip lorries from using small local roads through the villages |
215 |
Clear the brook by the bridge below Willow Bank to help avoid floods in winter. A number of people come to work on cycles and cannot get through. It is more overgrown now more than it has ever been. |
218 |
Road Safety - for pedestrians through the villages a footpath from parish room to the close & Elms in Throckmorton. |
222 |
Enforce parking (near shop? Church End?) laws & speed limit. |
226 |
Future of airfield & landfill site. Impact of traffic through village |
231
|
Poor state of the local roads, Poor quality of road repairs and resurfacing. Resurfacing with tart & chippings is very bad value for money |
236 |
I cannot see the logic in closing the road in Wyre Piddle |
237 |
Many vehicles still speeding through the villages. |
243 |
Long Lane - provide cycle lane past Airfield perimeter fence - plenty of space for this and would improve visual appearance of present weedy verge! |
246 |
The roads and pavements are a disgrace some unsafe to walk on and could lead to lots of compensation claims from council in the future. |
248 |
Speeding by through traffic. Traffic calming? |
257 |
Pershore bypass - increasingly tiresome. Why can't it be completed? |
258 |
My only concern is the fact that motorists fail to stop as they join the Hill Furze road from Bishampton fields (the Vale) I feel a give way sign and road markings would help the situation. |
265 |
Condition of the roads seems to have deteriorated due to weight of lorries and "heavy" traffic |
270
|
Concerned about increased H.G.V. movement if a "science park" is to be developed on airfield - especially as Marshalls regularly use the road at speed, (above the limit.) |
274 |
Speeding through the village:- still happening particularly during the evening - fit speed bumps |
292 |
State of the Roads - (forever a subject) & no more heavy lorries please |
297 |
Size, weight and volume of large vehicles using using roads ie Tip and Long Lane, reducing roads to rubble. We have had punctures caused by potholes. Huge risk to cyclists and moped users. |
303 |
CReduce the lorry movements along Throckmorton road. Repair the area of the road in Throckmorton. Introduce traffic calming measures to slow traffic through the villages |
304 |
Traffic calming measures or re-enforcement of speed limits - main street is a busy road, dangerous for children playing etc. with consistent speeding through the village. |
313 |
Once again, a grumble about pavements - in a state of disrepair |
319
|
Save
money on road repairs and maintenance AND reduce traffic speeds! Place
weight restriction on ALL class C roads (7.5tonnes?) except for access
to villages. Research says 30T lorry caused many thousand times the
damage of a 1T car. C Class roads never intended to carry current loads.
individual householders responsible for drains up to connection - potential
damage by heavy traffic is obvious. |
320
|
The maintenance of the public roads appears to be virtually non existence. A campaign should be mounted to improve the situation. |
323 |
Deal with the sub-standard road surfaces throughout the area and set up a proper programme of maintaining the roads once the current problems have been dealt with. |
327
|
Roads Why are 4 roads into and thro' Bishampton being maintained (i.e. re surfaced) the roads thro' Bishampton are worse now than when we came to live here 36 years ago. Church end to my knowledge has never been surfaced. |
329 |
Restriction of heavy traffic using the road to the airfield. |

Comments
about the Airfield |
2 |
Persuade Quinetic to develop a scientific industrial park so that questions over the future of the site are answered. Stop using technicalities to limit the area they can use beyond those that are reasonable. |
3 |
The airfield to be utilised for a development of executive individual housing subject to clearance by health & safety executive |
7 |
Hill and Moor site and airfield - return to nature - have nature reserve with paths for cyclists, horses, walkers etc. Maybe a sports centre. |
8 |
I think the plan for the Airfield would be a good idea: Wildlife & Park |
11 |
M.O.D. Land We would like to see this land used for a Country Style Park complex. The planting of trees, walks and lake with a conservation Theme and including a local history section. |
16 |
Airfield - devpt. In sympathy with env./historic context. Conservation of meadowland etc. if building is inevitable - very low key 'science park' type & preservation of rural atmosphere & environment |
23 |
The mess that is Marshalls Transport needs sorting out |
24 |
Pershore Airfield. To ensure the airfield will be as a conservation area, or similar. |
25 |
Throckmorton Airfield -The development of a business park/small industrial units which should be accessed via the Wyre Piddle Bypass. |
29 |
Comprehensive & constructive plan for the airfield to ensure sympathetic development providing employment & housing. |
30 |
Throckmorton Airfield - Wind farm with locals buying shares and getting cheap electricity. |
31 |
Use of the airfield, a need to make a permanent long standing decision. No more industrial use expansion. |
36 |
(..doctors surgery is required, even if on part time basis..)..Perhaps a part of the airfield could be designated for this purpose? Too simplistic I know. |
41 |
I am still fearful that the government has not discounted plans for an asylum centre on the airfield and feel the local community should still be very alert!!! |
42 |
To make sure the site at Throckmorton is held to plans for a "Nature Reserve", as promised. |
62 |
We are constantly disturbed by the skid patch used on the airfield - not quite the rural retreat we were expecting! (We are newcomers to the village.) |
62 |
We are constantly disturbed by the skid patch used on the airfield - not quite the rural retreat we were expecting! (We are newcomers to the village.) |
70 |
Holiday Park - Caravan/camping park would bring tourists to the area. This would bring employment and revenue. |
72 |
Need to ascertain medium to long term future of Airfield - We need to eliminate the seemingly annual nightmare regarding what it has and what it could be used for. |
73 |
Appropriate use of the airfield site. - For example multi-activity recreational facilities - cycle track, nature reserve/walks, bridle path and horse exercise area skateboard area, childrens' playground, camping and touring caravan site (seasonal). |
78 |
Throckmorton airfield to be utilised as a superior sports facility/leisure complex/nature reserve/water park. |
80 |
Use of airfield land to provide local sports facilities. |
83 |
The airfield - it's long term future. We accept it will be developed in some form, but would like to see something sympathetic to the location, a development which would not have any adverse impact on us (for a change). We would like to see - High tech business park, conservation area, Community facilities - sportsfield, playground etc. |
84 |
Airfield - could be used for light industry - would create more local jobs. Good for the community. |
85 |
The proposed Wildlife Reserve is vital but I would also like to see a Wildlife park for residents open the airfield on the airfield. If that is too ambitious then a wildlife trail would enhance the area tremendously & be an important area for school parties to visit to learn about habitat & the environment & have fun pond dipping perhaps |
96 |
Airfield - would like to see provision for kids both on airfield and in village, leisure facilities for elderly seem pretty poor |
102 |
The Airfield - a plan to develop the airfield appropriately and prevent a repeat of the asylum centre situation we had last year. Recent reports about it being developed as a nature reserve would be welcome or perhaps development of the site as a place of historical interest (Roman remains etc.) |
111 |
Throckmorton for development i.e. Private housing, Business park or Golf course |
115 |
Airfield to be developed into a leisure/recreation area - all weather tennis courts, play areas for different age groups. boating lake. family walks, picninc area, nature walks, education on wildlife & nature conservation (similar to park at Redditch) |
118 |
Nature/conservation area at the airfield at the airfield with walks & cycle tracks for all to use. |
119 |
The village needs to know what is happening to the airfield before any sensible long-term plan can be formulated. |
120 |
The Airfield. Until some definite plans are developed for the future use of the airfield, it will remain the target for all unwanted and unacceptable ideas that have threatened our peaceful existence. It is clear the area is not without its problems - specifically past use and general usability of the land, the mass burial site, and the adjacent fill site. Many villagers have expressed a wish to see it developed as a country park. Most of them have never walked through the fields to the south of Tilesford on a hot summers day and taken in the aroma of the grasses from the land fill site. Never the less, there may be a balance struck to provide some industrial or commercial development and/or returning to farm land in conjunction with provision outdoor leisure facilities in the form of sporting or a country park area. |
122 |
Airfield - Leisure forestry? |
125 |
Airfield We feel that Long Lane running past the Airfield would benefit from Road Surface improvements & including a public footpath, from Tilesford to Throckmorton. |
127 |
Use the brownfield site on the airfield for a small development of affordable housing and light industry. The rest could be developed as new woodland with part set aside for recreational use (ie sports complex). |
137 |
Future of the airfield: need to button down a fitting future for it - which maintains rural nature of the area and doesn't spoil it. What about a wind farm (satisfying need for sustainability - or a country park? |
138 |
Threat from inappropriate development on or near airfield / further expansion of Hill and Moor Tip: Strict limits on 'tipping', direct access road, find 'acceptable' development for airfield area , re designate in local plan. Could include Light Tech. Ind.? Sports? Limited housing? |
142 |
The Airfield - fear of inappropriate development on the airfield |
144 |
No further housing on airfield site as this would ruin any conservation hopes and plans and create serious flood threat to Wyre Piddle, Moor and Pershore. |
147 |
Throckmorton
airfield Control the use of the airfield by: |
149 |
Possible quality housing on Marshalls site - re-house Marshalls on other side of road. |
151 |
Also keen to see continued conservation programmes, particularly on the Airfield |
153 |
The Airfield - is degenerating, providing no income for the benefit of the local community. |
155 |
The Throckmorton airfield has been and will remain to be a worry regarding it's future development |
156 |
The Airfield to accommodate play areas for noisy activities, such as 'skate boarding' project, football etc. Park land for walking & picnics, 'small' children's play area. |
157 |
Airfield
- |
160 |
Airfield i) "Conservation area great news" |
162 |
Throckmorton Airfield -Set aside a wooded area as a nature reserve but with public access. |
184 |
Throckmorton Airfield -The creation of a sports/recreation area with toilets, changing facilities etc. for outdoor activities. |
186 |
Airfield Remove any threat of future development. Anybody who believes that the govt. would not use it again must be soft in the head!!!! |
188 |
Re-development of the old airfield. Essential if a solution is not to be forced on us and whatever is decided will impact on all the surrounding villages. We suggest a woodland and leisure park with water-courses and a lake where youngsters could be taught sailing, (similar to Upton Warren). There are very few woodland areas available to the public in this area and it could be a great attraction. A similar project met with great success at Weston Rhynn, near Oswestry, Shropshire, where old coal-mine workings were reclaimed in 1978. Such things as barbecue sites could be installed similar to those in the Forest of Dean. The car-parking spaces are already in place. i.e. the old runways. The cost of such a project should not be prohibitive. |
192 |
Finally - we would like peace of mind that the burial ground is monitored and residents inform regularly of safety and health risks. That the ground will not be used for any further disasters. |
195 |
In co-operation with the countryside agency and others, prepare proposals for further landscaping and planting on the airfield. |
196 |
Airfield: I believe this area should be split into two areas, a conservation area and an area for low cost housing. Nearly all of the village & surrounding areas grown up children have to move away, it would be advantageous to give them the opportunity to live nearby |
202 |
Airfield - Whole area needs attraction for tourism similar to horticulture college - incl. Apple trees for cider manufacture & Sculpture park - more details available, a paying proportion for a going concern |
206 |
The Airfield.....affordable housing for the locals to purchase even if it's on a 50/50 basis & monitored so only locals do purchase |
210 |
Airfield - Let's encourage some positive use of the airfield, ie development of small to medium sized offices and light industrial units. If this land isn't effectively utilised it is only a question of time before the government come up with another hare brained scheme for its use that we won't like! |
211 |
Throckmorton Airfield - Resist the temptation to develop an area for housing which could be the thin end of the wedge for future extensive development thereby changing the nature of the locality. |
223 |
Airfield.
- There is a good opportunity here to "improve" the landscape. |
225 |
The Airfield - Why not a Windfarm? Mr Blair is all for cheaper power. |
226 |
Future of airfield & landfill site. Impact of traffic through village |
230 |
Use Throckmorton Airfield as Sports Academy |
232 |
The airfield - positive development to provide employment and/or affordable accommodation for local people to preserve the villages. |
234 |
The airfield. For reasons obvious it is clear that a decision as to the future proposed use of the airfield needs to be made and agreed with the residents of the parish. Perhaps light industrial use would be beneficial in providing employment. |
238 |
It is essential that the Parish Council resolve what is to happen to the "Airfield site"; to object to everything, which has been the case in the past, is dangerous! A realistic stance should be taken. |
241 |
Airfield.
North of runway, West of long lane - lots of land - could be turned
into regional recreation ground for young people of WM. Plant with
trees and bushes; pool at end of land fill site road incorporated
for canoeing etc. Landfill hills soon finished - could incorporate
as part of obstacle course. Enough space for walking and cycling trails.
Basic accommodation for 20 to 30 young people plus leaders. For scouts,
etc, inner city youth clubs etc. To develop self reliance in safe
and controlled environment. |
242 |
A plan showing the actual area of the Airfield and what buildings will remain in the D.F.S. plan |
244 |
The
airfield |
249 |
Throckmorton
airfield.. |
251 |
Airfield - There is already an airstrip and control tower. Why not use it as a light aircraft, gliding, parachute, freefall, hot air balloon centre. It would bring revenue and employment. |
253 |
ii)
What about rest of the airdrome, (outside conservation area) what
is proposed for this? |
261 |
Throckmorton
Airfield. |
270 |
Concerned about increased H.G.V. movement if a "science park" is to be developed on airfield - especially as Marshalls regularly use the road at speed, (above the limit.) |
273 |
Plans for the future use of the Airfield - Both the M.O.D. side & the Defra side |
282 |
Airfield Vigilance (could this include a sports area for the young & not so young?) |
283 |
I would like to see noise levels taken into account when deciding what use the airfield is put too. Sometimes on the weekends it is noticeably noisy with clay pigeon shoots, taking car breaks, squealing, it feels like being under siege. |
288 |
Airfield. - By all means a science park but also consider sports facilities ALL TO OLYMPIC STANDARDS such as;
A maple glade in commemoration
of those who trained at Throckmorton. |
294 |
Sensitive future development of the airfield in a way that won't destroy the peace and beauty of the villages, damage the environment, nor impact too heavily on local roads; perhaps facilities for craftsmen/women or high tech units which would provide employment possibilities. |
295 |
The Airfield. - There needs to be a "real plan". We do not want to be fighting a rear guard action. Why can't a decision be made now for the future? it could provide local employment in the future. |
300 |
To press QinetiQ to undertake landscaping and screening of the airfield, particularly along perimeter road |
301 |
The
Airfield - retain and extend wildlife and conservation aspects. |
308 |
The future of Throckmorton Airfield |
316 |
The old Pershore airfield could be made into a lovely wooded park. Where in future people could walk and enjoy the peace and quiet and remember it was a place where a lot of young "would be pilots" lost there lives learning to fly wartime aircraft. A place of remembrance and history, |
317 |
No further development of the airfield for industrial use, i.e. heavy industry. |
321 |
Stop public comments of both a positive and negative nature relating to occurrences on the airfield so that recent history is forgotten as soon as possible |
322 |
The airfield site is clearly a prime development potential that will at some point in the future - short, medium or long term - be realised unless it can be set aside with some other - more natural use without significant visual impact. It is scurrilous to have such a vast open space adjacent to the surrounding village/hamlets but inaccessible to all. The potential for sport/leisure/recreational facilities is tremendous - and with additional influx of visitors through camping and caravanning with these facilities and existing tourist attractions would generate some employment and local business growth. |
325 |
Would like to see a proper plan for the airfield Industrial estate - consensus of opinion to move toward tourism and proper policy for industrial development |
326 |
Promote the use of the airfield for hi-tech business units, sports and recreation (e.g. golf driving range, indoor cricket/tennis etc.) and local farmers' market. |
329 |
Restriction of heavy traffic using the road to the airfield. |
